T-Post Fence Posts

The T-post is a versatile choice for residential gardens and uneven terrain, adapting well to various environments. Made from steel and finished with a colored plastic coating (available in green or anthracite gray at Districlos), this post is not recommended for use with rigid fence panels. Instead, T-posts are primarily designed for roll mesh fencing.

Wondering how to form a concrete base for your post? It’s straightforward. The goal is to keep the concrete in place around the post while it sets. The most common and cost-effective method is to use a wooden form.
Simply build a three-sided wooden box (with a base), position it around the post, and screw the form to the post. Add extra wooden supports if needed for stability.
After about four days of curing, remove the form gently with a mallet. Your T-post fence will now be securely anchored.

How to choose your T-post?

For installation in the ground, your T-post should be taller than your fence. For example, a 2 m T-post works with a fence about 1.5 m high.
What do the sizes T30, T35, T40 mean? These numbers refer to the post’s diameter. For taller posts (like 2.25 m), you won’t find a T30 post—larger posts require a greater diameter for strength and wind resistance. For a 2.25 m post, choose a T40.

How do you install a T-post?

Start by marking the locations for your T-posts. We recommend spacing them every 2.5 m. Dig holes 20 x 20 cm wide and 30 cm deep for setting the posts. Begin by installing the posts at the ends and middle of your fence line. Next, add the braces, then set the remaining posts. Install the tension wires—your fence structure is now ready.

What are the regulations for installing T-posts?

There are no specific regulations for the posts themselves. However, your mesh fence must comply with local height restrictions. For towns with fewer than 50,000 residents, the fence should not exceed 2.6 m. In other areas, the maximum height is 3.5 m.
