Districlos offers automation kits for swing gates. The articulated arm motor is compatible with aluminum swing gates, barred swing gates, bamboo swing gates, and garden swing gates.

Here’s how the automation works:

• For swing gates, articulated arms replicate the opening and closing motion. This method doesn’t cause more wear than manual operation.
• For sliding gates, the rack moves the gate smoothly to the side. This system can handle gates weighing up to 400 kg.

The right automation depends on your gate’s weight. Our motors support gates up to 2.3 m long and 300 kg.
For sliding gate automation, the maximum weight is 400 kg.
You can add a motor even if your gate has been installed for years. Just make sure your posts are in good condition and can support the automation’s weight, especially for swing gates.

Gate weight is also important when selecting a motor. Not all motors can handle heavy gates. The larger the gate, the heavier it is, and the more powerful the motor needs to be.

• Underground motors: Only for swing gates, these are the most discreet but require masonry work and are more expensive. Best installed with a new gate.
• Wheel automation: Simple to fit, ideal for gates on a slight slope as it helps stabilize movement.
• Rack and pinion motors: For sliding and cantilever gates, providing smooth lateral movement and easy installation.

We recommend hiring a professional to install your gate automation and ensure all safety standards are met. If you don’t have a gate yet, consider an aluminum gate (swing or sliding)—it’s lightweight and easy to install, making it ideal for automation.

Regulations for gate automation installation

There are a few rules to know when installing swing or sliding gate automation. European standard EN 13241-1 sets safety requirements for automated gates. Some accessories, like photocells and a flashing light, are mandatory. For added safety, consider a driveway mirror if visibility is poor. A manual release or backup battery is useful in case of power outage. An intercom can help verify visitors.
Solar kits can power your motor and reduce energy costs. Note: gates are considered part of your fence and subject to the same regulations. Depending on your municipality, maximum heights apply—2.60 m in towns under 50,000 people, 3.20 m elsewhere.
Make sure your gate doesn’t extend onto public property when installed.
