Originally, brace posts were used in construction framing to support building structures. They can be made from wood, concrete, or more commonly, metal.
When installing, brace posts are used to support posts at the ends, corners, and those supporting gates. Without brace posts, these fence posts may bend or fail over time.
Installing a brace post is straightforward. At Districlos, our fence brace posts come pre-drilled. Simply align the hole with the T-post, insert a bolt and nut, and secure the assembly.
The height of your fence determines the length of the brace post you need. For example, if you have a flexible fence set in the ground at 3.3 ft high, use a 4 ft steel brace post.
For a 4 ft fence, choose a 5 ft brace post.
For a 5 ft fence, go with a 5.5 ft brace post.
If your fence is 5.5 ft high, use a 6.5 ft brace post, and for a 6.5 ft fence, select a 7.5 ft brace post.
Note: The T-post should be the same length as the brace post.

Brace posts come in different sizes, shapes, and uses. Metal brace posts are ideal for flexible wire mesh rolls, featuring a flat, pre-drilled design.
Round brace posts are used with round posts and require a specific collar and end cap. For wood posts, installation is different: use 4-inch diameter stakes spaced 5 ft apart, then assemble using mortise, tenon, or carriage bolts.
Brace posts are installed when setting T-posts. The goal is to create a right angle between the ground and the post, typically at about 45°. Use bolts designed for this purpose—holes are already pre-drilled.
For corners, place the post between two brace posts.
Generally, plan for two brace posts per corner post and one per end post, depending on your fence layout and post spacing.
No specific regulations apply to using brace posts. Flexible fencing is only regulated by height: up to 8.5 ft in towns under 50,000 residents, and up to 11.5 ft in larger municipalities.
